Captains Letter
It is with great anticipation and honour that I look forward to serving as your Captain for the coming year.
As you are all aware this is a very special year for Royal St Georges, given that we are once again hosting The Open Championship. I know that we will all carry out our duties diligently and to the best of our ability as representatives of our club. We are incredibly fortunate to play our golf on such a historic and challenging course and to walk in the footsteps of so many famous golfers, past and present.
I have a first-class Vice Captain in Reuben Crick to support me, along with the committee and you the membership, so I am certain we will have both an exciting and successful year. The fixture list is as I am sure you can imagine pretty full, but with help from Robert and the Parent Club we have managed to fit it all in. Once again, I know we will receive great support from Sean & Simon with our tee times which makes all the difference.
There will be some social events during the year including a summer barbecue and a dance at the Bowling Club, as well of course our Annual Presentation evening at the main club, dates TBA.
My nominated charities are Sandwich Age Concern and The Martha Trust so hopefully we can raise some funds to donate to them at the end of the year, they both do a fantastic job in the local community.
